1) We only have this lifetime to achieve what we want.
That's the biggest LIFE lesson we can take away from Steve Jobs. And boy, is he achieving a lot in his lifetime! Here are 5 more LIFE-changing lessons we need to learn:
2) To make your vision come true, first you must see it!
Steve Jobs knew what his future would look like from an early age. He famously dropped out of school and started Apple in 1976, when he was 21 just years old. And since then, he hasn't been afraid to challenge conventional wisdom based on nothing more than the vision in his head.
"There's an old Wayne Gretzky quote that I love. 'I skate to where the puck is going to be, not where it has been.' And we've always tried to do that at Apple. Since the very very beginning. And we always will."
Imagine your future, down to the last detail and then make it real.
3) You cannot do it alone
From Apple, Pixar to NExt, Mr Jobs hand-picked great people with great talents to make himself even better. With Timothy Cook for Operations and Jonathan Ives for Design, Mr Jobs knew he would be even better with a few extra minds think through problems, add unique strengths and bounce ideas.
"My model for business is The Beatles: They were four guys that kept each other's negative tendencies in check; they balanced each other. And the total was greater than the sum of the parts. Great things in business are not done by one person, they are done by a team of people."
He realized that even he couldn't do it alone so who do you have to make you even better?
4) Appearances are important
Ever since he took a calligraphy course in college, Mr Jobs has loved design. From the Apple Store's glass staircase to the latest iPod products, to the new circular Apple Headquarters, he designed beautiful objects of desire.
To make a difference, in anything you do, you must make something the market actually wants. You must design it. Take a look at your last report, email or product: would Mr Jobs approve?
