If I'm not happy with the way things are going, Feb 3rd marks a fresh start… like pressing ‘restart' on one of my daughter‘s Wii games... like a blanket of crisp white snow waiting to be played with... like a new sheet of paper that is full of hope and possibility.
So how do you use this tip?
- Wake up with a smile!
- Imagine the day ahead as a field of fresh snow, or if you prefer a blank sheet of paper waiting for your pen's impression.
- Now you're in control - what do you want that piece of paper to look like at the end of the day?
- Work backwards and determine the steps it will take to achieve just that.
- Now, take a deep breath and begin, fresh!
If every day is too much for you, then I won't tell you about my friend who introduced this incredibly useful mindset to me... she saw every second as a chance to make a change and took control of every decision as a way of improving herself.
That works for her, and that's good. If every day is too much for you - do it every week, or month. A year is just a little too long to re-evaluate the progress of your goals and dreams, wouldn't you agree?
And here's one more tweak to this tip: take out an actual white piece of paper as visual inspiration. Right there, in front of you, that sheet of paper represents great potential and reminds you this is your opportunity to take control! When you're stuck or frustrated, you could even then write down what you want to achieve and begin your new journey.
So here's a little bit of fresh, open space; just for you.
